Touchdown Toddler Superbowl Sunday

It's the Superbowl! My husband and I have always been big football fans, in fact, years ago when we first met our first conversation was about college football. I am a big Irish fan and he is an IU alumni and Hoosier fan. We are both fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers and use the games as an excuse to cook some fun food. Now I know on this site I always promote healthy eating and wholesome meals, however Mike and I try to live by the 80/20 rule - eat well 80% of the time and save the other 20% for indulgence. This often applies to football Saturdays or Sundays. We don't believe in diets or restrictions. We believe in eating healthy, cooking as much as you can, and enjoying a little junk here and there. Where is the fun in working out if there is no reward at the end of the day?

This year,  sadly the Steelers did not make it to the Superbowl. But we are still excited to watch the game, commercials and half time show! My sister, Kristen, who I often refer to as Super Mom due to her knowledge of all things kids and baby (she was a preschool/daycare instructor for a while after college and is just all-around well informed) is in town with her two little nuggets - so plans have been made!

Below is our list for a Touchdown Toddler Superbowl Sunday including crafts, snacks and fun!

Football PB&J's

Guacamole and Black-bean Corn Salsa Scoops

CoCoa Krispy Footballs

Touchdown Marshmall-O Treats

And the Mom & Dads got to enjoy sandwiches in dedication to one of our favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh, Primanti Brothers - the Primanti Cajun Chicken sandwich. Including this awesome homemade coleslaw.

The kids helped us make up some fun signage for the event as well! Since the Steelers were not playing, we picked our favorite of the two opponents - the Seahawks.

They helped us decorate football cutouts with a little icing and cereal...

we made a poster with markers and finger paints including using their little hands to write "GO" ...

and just had a blast! Get creative on the next Superbowl Sunday with some of these fun crafts and snacks and make the Superbowl fun for the whole family!
